A Choice Must Be Made

Well, to update a little bit, I am sorry for my lack of posts considering I've been abroad for the last month and a half. I have also been sheltered somewhat from the international media with a very slow internet connection and language barrier. But I do want to say that the time has finally come where I must make a choice for who I want to govern our great nation. One thing I've been trying to stay up to date on has been the debates. If anything, the pick of Sarah Palin as John McCain's vice presidential nominee was exhilarating at first but I think it was a disastrous move on his part in the long run. The more I hear about Palin and her background, the more I dislike her. Palin is incredibly inexperienced, not that Obama isn't, but she's probably a bit more so. Now, if McCain dies while in office, considering he is 72 and won't release his medical records, the American people have quite a dilemma on their hands. Sarah Palin as president would be a complete unknown. Hypothetically, she may appoint advisors who have years of experience and knowledge, however she is so inexperienced in the field of foreign policy that her decisions may negate anything her advisors say. The pick of the Alaskan governor has in fact made me question who I should vote for again. There are so many cons to both McCain and Obama. I wonder what would be better: McCain wins, the world hates the US once again, we experience Bush economics once again (not in a positive way) , a larger income gap emerges between the middle class and upper class, taxes are cut, we have strong foreign policy experience (or so he says), and we have a president who could croak at any moment or Obama wins, the world loves the US again, our taxes are increased, he can pass anything he wants with a complete democratic majority in the house and senate, the economy would be unpredictable, science and environmentalism would flourish and taxes would be raised to support such endeavors, and the American people who can't afford healthcare would be given a viable option, while small business owners are given the shaft. Again, we have two candidates who are terrible and who I don't want governing this great country of ours, but I have to make a decision at some point. I think there's a case to be made for the balance of power. The Republicans have held the throne for too long and corruption and loss of interest in politics among the American people has been the main result. I truly can't say yet who I am voting for, but my vote is leaning towards Obama, although I hate to say that. Now, if McCain had actually picked someone who was qualified to be president I'd probably to more enthusiastic in voting for him (although I still might). It is, in my opinion, the greatest faux pas he's made this entire election. The pick of Palin worries me the most and of course McCain's age. They both have their follies, the Keating-5 with McCain and the Ayers scandal with Obama. They are both terrible choices, and I probably will be disappointed either way. There's the real possibility that their vice presidential picks will matter more in this election than any other in history. We've seen how much of an impact vice presidents can have on policies and decisions, take for example Dick Cheney. First, we have an older man which is obviously a risk. Then we have a black man who may be the first African-American president in this country's history and might stir up racial tensions within the south. Now, if the laws of succession were to be employed in the case of death of McCain or Obama, I'd feel more comfortable with Joe Biden being our president. I just can't stand how McCain picked such a nitwit to be his running mate, obviously trying to carry over those women voters that were going to be voting for Hillary. Be as it may, I've yet to make my final decision on the candidates. I'll of course keep you updated on who I choose, but I am almost positive that Obama will win the election. Of course, if you have any persuasive comments about who I should choose, be sure to leave them. Until next time...

*sigh* It's bad enough that I have to defend Sarah Palin on the liberal blogs...but I never thought I'd come to a conservative blog and have to stick up for her. So here it goes:

Firstly, she's no nitwit! Stop believing what Saturday Night Live and the liberal media tell you. I understand that you may have been abroad for the last couple of months, but while you were away, the Governor of Alaska has been the whipping post of the liberal media of which the likes we have NEVER seen before. She IS...the targer of HATE from many on the left side.

Now the facts: She's the chief executive of the nation's largest state(land mass). She runs a multi-billion dollar economy. She has taken on one of the most corrupt political establishments in the country and won. Being from Alaska, her strongest asset is her knowledge of energy. Did I mention that energy is a topic of not only economic safety, but national security? She has the highest approval rating of any Governor in the United States. She is the only candidate in the race with executive experience...on a couple of levels. Oh, people may say that a mayor isn't much, but those are the naysayers.

Now...was the MOST qualified for the job? No. Was Joe Biden the MOST qualified for the job? How about Dick Cheney? Al Gore? Dan Quayle? Let's see...no, no, no, and no.

Vice Presidents are rarely picked based on being the MOST qualified for the job of president of the US. Maybe that's what we'd want...or the way it should be...but it's just not the case. Vice Presidents are typically picked to fill a void of some constituancy. Sarah Palin was picked to fill the void of....CONSERVATIVES. She's the only conservative in the race. She breathed life into the rotting corpse of a campaign that John McCain was running up until then. And...she's an energy expert....something that most experts thought would be a great factor in this election...until the economic mentdown, that is.

Now...I'm not sure I'm going to vote for McCain. I don't trust him, and I just don't think that Sarah Palin will have much of an effect in his administration. I'd rather she wait 4 years and come back and run on her own and take Washington by storm.

As far as Obama...it's wouldn't be merely raising taxes...it would be wealth redistribution...otherwise known as Socialism. A great amount of lower income individuals don't pay any income taxes now, as it is. Obama wants to take "Joe the Plumber"'s money and give it to someone else...literally give them a check.

In fact, I'd almost go as far as to say that Obama doesn't think anyone in America can succeed...without HIS help. He came from humble beginnings...he worked hard, studied hard, applied himself...and look where he is now...the soon to be President of the United States. But no one else can do it?!?! OR is it, he doesn't want anyone else to do it? Does he not want people to work hard...to earn their lot in life?? He just wants them to have something for nothing??

And would all the world really love us, just because of a president change? Or maybe just a few extra nations...such as Venezuela, Iran, North Korea? Hmmm...Don't they HATE us? Aren't we the GREAT SATAN to them? Aren't the leaders of these countries evil? One must ask themselves...what is it that these people...these hateful, vile people...see in Obama that we don't?

And...to bring it back and end of conservatism. Bush's economic policies weren't bad for 7 1/2 years. If it weren't for this housing crisis that Clinton started and Democrats AND Republicans allowed to continue over the past two administrations, Obama wouldn't be in the lead now because the economy woulnd't have given him this boost.

Yes the middle class shrank...but what class grew? Not the lower class. Yep, you guessed it...the upper class grew by the same 10-11% that the middle class shrank. What we need to focus on is getting the lower class to move up to the middle class. And the way to do that is to produce things here at home...not abroad, and not by giving it to them.

I hope I gave you some things to think about. I don't mind if you vote Obama....just do it with eyes wide open. His policies will fail...they will bankrupt this country AND/OR we will move to Socialism with Banks, Energy, Transportation, and Healthcare all nationalized.

What I do mind is your mischaracterization of Sarah Palin. I seriously hope I opened your eyes there. I think I should have...if I can get rational liberals to crack, I'd hope you'd see the "error of your ways". :)
